365/37+bonus

by ada

A peek through our window and a bonus photo of Móricka, just because he’s so cute (and because three days of white snow, grey sky and -15 °C make me miss wild colours).

There are four synagogues in the center of the old Jewish Quarter of Pest. The one in Dohány utca is the largest synagogue in Europe and the second largest in the world.

The first real snow this winter. The Cat hates it with her very heart. She makes faces and flees back to the room if we try to make her get some fresh air.

For today we planned to take some photos with Ancsangyalka in the city but it was so freezingly cold that we had to give up after forty minutes, because even in gloves we couldn’t move our fingers anymore. They were like frozen sticks of wood, not the least flexible. The art of pushing the tiny button on my camera with gloves on is something I never really managed to master. So we ended up drinking rum-flavoured hot chocolate in a bookshop cafe.

Budapest, Vár – random photos with soldiers

by ada

More photos of Vár, the last few. And yes, they are soldiers! They post front of the palace of the President of Hungary (who has tough times nowadays because of some newly arising doubts about his (un)completed education). They are the first Hungarian soldiers I have seen in years. I didn’t even know they are supposed to be there, but apparently they are. And they make a big show of changing shifts, it’s really nice.

I spent the whole day in my pajamas, feeling bad and playing online bookworm. I didn’t get up to eat till 8 pm. Bad sign.

Budapest, Vár – Mátyástemplom

by ada

Since I lived abroad for the last eight years, I now sort of enjoy playing the tourist in my hometown. Some pictures of our famous church, Mátyástemplom.

Another walk in Vár, this time with Ancsangyalka. I’m kind of obsessed with this district lately. If I win the lotto, I will move there and feel like I’m part of our history but not our politics.
