Today we did a book decluttering with my sister. I personally own about 2000 books, about the half of them are stored in friends’ basements and storage boxes in Holland and Austria. My sister and my parents are of the same sort, and we live in a two-room flat of 50 sqare meters. And I didn’t mention the abnormal amount of music scores and the LP collection I also have yet. You can imagine the result. With one word: chaos.

For me it is really hard to give away books, even the ones I don’t particularly like. I received a fair amount of unwanted books as birthday presents or free copies for playing music on book presentations, and even if I know I will never read them, because, well, the structures of monetary economy and likes are somewhat out of my interest, it’s still difficult to make the decision. And I plan to collect all of my books at home because of the frequency I’m moving in and out of countries lately. That means another 1000 pieces are to find place for. It’s a frightening perspective.
