Another thirteen-hours long workday which turned to a fourteen-hours long workday. During those fourteen hours I had time to pee only once: in my lunch break.

I would wish you Happy Halloween, but the truth is that I grown up without even knowing what Halloween is. It was part of neither my socialization nor my culture. It still isn’t. At this moment I’m simply happy that I can go to sleep right now and that I’m not obliged to have fun whether I want to or not.

Back to that periodically returning state of my life when the only thing I can turn to for inspiration is my dinner table.

After three days of thirteen-hours shifts in a row, I woke up this morning with the comforting thought, that I’m scheduled on drug shift today, which means “only” eight hours of working and involves no messing up with any kind of human excretions.

The reality? Well, I worked only 30 minutes longer than I had to, but after a short physiotherapy session for my back and a ravenous photography run in Mirabellgarten I was back again, sitting in team meetings, doing the evaluations of out-of-date nursing projects and checking the drug list until 22.30 pm.

How do other people manage to have a normal life? What is normal life anyway?

The sad truth is, if you are working as a nurse, low-carbing is practically impossible.

Today we had CPR-refreshing training, which is obligatory every two years. I badly needed it, I guess. Last time I resuscitated someone we still used 4:1 ratio and tracheal tubes with balloon after checking carotid pulse. How time flies.

Well, all I did today was visiting McDonald’s for a coffee, but at least I did it with style.

Today I went to the Ikea and that’s how it looks like there. I don’t really get the point of celebrating feasts two month earlier than their real datum. I strictly refuse to participate in this whole Christmas game until the first day of Advent.

Our inner courtyard decoration. We also own another half-naked Cupid and a small lake with goldfish in it, all in the real Austrian spirit of quality kitsch. If you behave you may get a look at the fish, too.

The last two days were all about Felix Baumgartner. Does he jump or does he not, does he survive or does he not. Well, he did jump and he did survive and we are all happy and proud. Salzburg people have a new god now, beside Mozart.

My adrenaline threshold is obviously somewhat lower than that of Felix Baumgartner. The sight of some raindrops on a fallen leaf made me excited enough for the day.

Shopping with a coworker of mine. I’m planning to buy a new camera, because my old (and only) one is falling apart, literally. It has also some lens problems which manifest in the form of dark, ufo-like shadows on the pictures. So, taking photos lately was mainly about finding some dunkle background to hide the ufos in it or cropping the images to cut the ufos out. While both of these processes are quite challenging (you can never know what exactly remains of the picture), they don’t really make photographing more enjoyable.

After reading through hundreds of photography tests and product reviews I became totally unable to take any decisions (taking decisions is no skill of mine, anyway). I don’t want a DSLR, because it’s too big and too expensive for me. Later, maybe, but not now. What I really need at this moment is a compact camera, that has a big zoom, makes good macros, has a normal SD card slot (no micro SD, please), and maybe a good enough battery? I also want to carry it around in my pocket and it shouldn’t cost more than 300 euros (that is the security prize limit, which I actually can’t really afford to reach). Any ideas or suggestions? I know, it’s the low end of photography, but that’s all I have place in my life for right now.

We just had some fire safety education at my workplace and heroically eliminated some homemade fire in various ways. It was rather fun but it didn’t make me change my mind. I’m on a job hunt, from now on also officially.
