the place where Germany meets Austria

by ada

Well, the Hammerauer Brücke isn’t really a place you must see before you die, but I stumbled upon it quite accidentally today, so here it is. Poor Rozi died almost a month ago and I was totally handicapped without a bike, so I hopped over to Germany to buy a new one, because that’s what you do if you live in Salzburg and need something: you hop over to Germany to shop, because Salzburg is the most expensive city in whole Austria. Just in case you were planning to move here, haha.

So I bought my new bike (Rozi, I will always remember you!) and drove it back home to Salzburg. A lazy 14 km tour beside the Saalach in the descending sun with only a minimal time spent with getting lost.

On the German side you get an overwhelming amount of elementary school art:

That’s my bike, Rozi, posing under a blossoming magnolia tree. She is sort of a posing kind (and I’m getting all girly with all these pink and white).

Another way of dealing with stress I practise way too often is eating quick carbohydrates. Well, at least is ice gluten-free.

Holland snapshots – part 1

I took this photo from under a bridge while waiting for the storm to pass by. I experienced some pretty hard storms in Holland, from the kind when you are desperately fighting your way against the tornadolike wind, icecold rain pouring cruelly on your face and soaking your clothes through; the wheels of your bike sunk into wildly flowing yellow waters of questionable origin and every meter is a new challenge, because you have to keep your eyes shut (ever tried biking blind? If not, you haven’t lived yet). You get the picture. Just the average Dutch storm in a seaside city, 360 days per year.

Well, this storm of yesterday was comparable to any Dutch storms I ever had the pleasure of making through on the bike.
