After three horrible night shifts in a row I was just too tired to concentrate on such unimportant details as grabbing my camera before leaving for Budapest. Unfortunately I still have my phone with me.

That’s what awaits me when, after working thirteen hours, attending a fancy ball and travelling six hours with the night train, I finally arrive home.

Notice the claws and imagine how my knitted sweater looks like after such an attack.

Well. Even if Móricka provides us with a full-time activity schedule, we can’t forget that we have also a cat. She looks to it.

Worst work day since I started one month ago. I couldn’t wait to finish my shift and get back to the safe and comforting world of Perry Mason. And I do miss Móricka and The Cat terribly.

I got a bit sick after yesterday’s endless wandering in the Austrian rain, so for today is a close-up of the sleeping Cat.

The Cat had her stitches removed today. She almost killed the vet during the procedure, hissing and biting like a rattlesnake. Our cat is more of a werewolf than of a teddy bear, and since she isn’t in pain anymore, she seems to be her good old self again.

I was sort of late with taking today’s photo. Since my camera doesn’t tolerate dusk very well, the most appropriate title for the picture would be “Fifty Shades of Grey”.

The Cat, drowning in the sea of blankets. Yesterday, after four days of tireless attempts she finally managed to get rid of the collar. It wasn’t easy but she tried hard, persisted and won the game.  She used her 30 seconds before being noticed by us for pulling out one of the sutures. If I will be half so active at the age of 85 as she now, at the equivalent age of almost 17, is, I will call myself very, very lucky.

And that’s the way I use my computer mouse today.

My poor old sweetie.

Poor Cat had her leg surgery today. She is in a miserable state, hiding in the cupboard behind the vacuum cleaner. It’s heartbreaking.

For today is a close-up of Móricka, looking like a small owl sleeping on a branch.

A walk to the vet’s practice to borrow a cat carrier for tomorrow morning, when The Cat has her leg appointment to see if she is strong enough to get her tumour removed (she is sixteen years old now, so her heart status needs to be seriously discussed). I think there is no reason to be worried. She will survive us all. The only (quite disturbing) question is how to get her into the basket. She is not enthusiastic about travelling at all.

The Cat – the seven minutes after midnight update

Just to make it clear for everybody how hard and cruel is the life this poor, hunted creature has to suffer.

The Cat suffers from massive and stable separation angst since the birth of Móricka, whom she genuinly hates. Luckily Móricka isn’t interested in her at all (actually, he is only interested in eating and being carried the whole day). Maybe in a few months we will have a cat without tail and a child without eyes, but for the moment they just ignore each other and peace reigns upon us.

So The Cat sticks to me like a fridge magnet all the time, because her hurt little soul needs constant attention. Wherever I go, she comes with, whatever I do, she takes part. It’s like having a small, black, rather annoying shadow, but I like to have her around. Today she helped me decluttering my bureau (yes, that’s how a desk looks after four months of depression). As you see from the photo, she is very enthusiastic about the whole process.  She clearly is a master of Getting Things Done. Exactly like me.

The first real snow this winter. The Cat hates it with her very heart. She makes faces and flees back to the room if we try to make her get some fresh air.

The Cat, hunting down some cars on the street. She clearly thinks that she is wild and dangerous. In fact, she is sixteen years old and completely senile. Poor old sweetie.
